Mud scab looks very much like the SSRD lesions. However, located on limbs, it is not caused by mosquitoes but other parasites, fungus, dust mites or others which take advantage of moisture (on skin) to nest. Itching resulting by water and moisture will create a perfect environment for various bacteria to develop because hair provides protection. Little by little, hair will fall out and scabs will appear; the affected areas will then be more prone to become infected . The use of oily lotion such as vaseline may protect the area but applications must be repeated very often. Cleaning at regular intervals is mandatory but will not be sufficient. You need to oil the skin for better protection; a lotion that could hydrate the skin and cleanse it at the same time would be the best. Derfen meets these 2 demands all the more as it also has a repellent effect against parasites (lice for example). Mud scale
