Najo I have a 2 month old colt and he is in the pasture with his mother. Nadia  I have been using the Boett blanket over the past 7 years. I started to use Derfen 4 weeks ago even though I wax kind of scared and doubtful about the results but it turned out miraculous. My horses can take advantage of pasture, do not need a blanket and are completely free. be advised I have 3 Frisians. One of them was just "a sore on legs" and she needed all the "gear" (hood, blanket, repellent lotion. For the 2 others, only the mane and tail were affected. We live in Belgium and our meadow is just a wide open space with no tree. They go out in the morning when it is not too humid when go back to the stable before sunset. Sabine I have been using Derfen successfully to combat the dermatitis affecting my mare. Besides, I have been applying Derfen as a precaution over the past few days as her mane has been growing back. She is rubbing her pasterns; it looks like acarians are to be blamed. Can I apply Derfen on her sores after I disinfected them? Otherwise,  what should I do? Help me because she is rubbing to blood.
Derfen: as far as limbs are concerned, we recommend to clean the sores with an antiseptic such as "Immaveral" or "Arcadex". Then , a few hours later or the following day, we would apply Derfen and renew the operation every other day alternating Derfen only and Derfen mixed up with vaseline.

Isabelle Hi, I filled out your online survey and I wanted to share the latest results and blood analysis of my pony "New Forest". First of all, I have to say she had been having the SSRD symptoms: mane, tail and ears itching. She is also itching her barrel. After diagnosis, she is allergic to 2 moulds (Alternaria Alternata and Aspergillus mix) and 2 acarians ( Dermatogoids farinae and Acarus siro). The symptoms can be detected when breathing or on the skin; in my case, skin dectection. I am going to try to desensitize her. Thanks for your very interesting research and your efficient product.

Véronique My stallion "Pre" has been itching since he arrived home and his mane was history. Since I started to use Derfen, it has been great: no more itching , the hair grows back and within the next few months, his mane should get back its original length. When I go to the south western part of france, he is not itching so it must come from my region.

Mireille I am HAPPY with derfen against dermatitis affecting "Quinquina". Once SSRD was diagnosed, I decided to get Derfen and she was just slightly affected (tail, mane, flanks). However, after 10 days of treatment (in fact 3 applications), everything has disappeared. The smell is kind of strange but does not bother horses. Crusts appeared after the first application but I brushed it off and a nice , soft new skin appeared underneath. Today, no more flaky or crusty skin;the hair grows back on the sores. Animaderm: Ears are a difficult area to treat and the available products today need a daily application(sometimes twice a day). Derfen relieves the itching and mixing it up with vaseline allows you to extend intervals between applications a little bit.

Stesis Hi, after 4 years of unsuccessful search of a perfect product for my kalife, he would be inevitably bitten by insects during july, august and even september....his forehead was bleeding because of itching; his skin was flaky and crusty and he was looking like a human being suffering from chickenpox. I applied Derfen and even if the smell is strong and persistent, I got won over by Derfen. Catherine I just want to add my testimonial to the long list of people happy with Derfen. I own a half Arabian mare and dermatitis was diagnosed at the age of 2. Amandine It is a few months now since I bought a French trotter affected by SSRD and I have been trying to heal him over the past 6 years. The poor horse was obliged to spend his whole life in his box. The only times he could go out was for riding lessons and little rides. I had been informed about the problems caused by SSRD but I still bought this horse. When weather conditions became warmer, he started rubbing and even broke his door; no more tail, barrel injured, mane itching. Ernest  I was looking for information about SSRD and I logged on your site...My horse is an Arabian from Aegypt, grey ,so with a very sensitive skin...Every year, he would "destroy" a part of his mane and damaged his tail. It had come to a point where he would rupture his skin through rubbing(and bleeding). I tried Derfen: 2 applications within 3 days: OVER! no more sign of itching. What can I say? Christine (West Central part of France) I have 2 horses encountering severe SSRD ; I tried Derfen and I am really happy with its efficiency. I do not have to put my horse back in the stable in the morning or evening. I apply Derfen every 3 days and I find this product very economical. I will order more.

Juju I wanted to support you in your research on SSRD because it is true there is not much that relieves horses. My mare got affected by SSRD 2 years ago(I read that a horse could be affected after changing its environment; when I bought her, she was not affected). The first summer was really awful because I did not know how to relieve her. I found vegetables which soothed the sores, garlic to purify her blood, and anti-itching herbs. In a stable nearby, there is a horse which is seriously infected; the owner bought a blanket but the horse tore it really fast. I have just received a sample of Derfen; I hope it will work on my mare. Go on with your research!

Jenifer hi, I live near Bordeaux. My horse rubbed the whole winter ,despite a blanket. It is 4 days since I started to apply Derfen. There is no more sign of itching and I could remove its blanket. I am really happy and hope it will continue that way and its andalousian mane grows back;

Christian In order to get a better efficiency of Derfen on my mare, I use a brush. It is very convenient and all parts of the horse become reachable and "applyable". Results have already been noticeable. I will wait for the end of the treatment but since the first application ,she has not rubbed.

Françoise (individual)I use derfen for my horses. I also have a dog who has been infected by suppurating urticaria. His skin was ruptured. I just applied derfen and that's it. Everything was gone. Miracle? No, just efficiency;

Youwen (individual) SSRD affecting my mare since she turned one. I tested a lot of products. Derfen is great but I must say I managed to slightly halt the SSRD by always giving her the same food: same type of hay, no bread, nor barley (I guess one of the ingredients would make her skin be a "midges magnet") . I apply Derfen every 8 or 9 days and that's enough. Her hair grows back and there is no more sign of itching.

Valérie (individual) Hi, I wanted to give you my opinion after buying Derfen. I have several horses. 2 mares are encountering SSRD. One of them has been having symptoms (since she was 4 or 5 years old) on the tail and neck but nothing really serious(signs of itching appear pretty late in the year and disappear in september, sometimes october).
The second one ,her daughter, has been having the symptoms since she was born. I was not really familiar with this infection and I learned too late that her father had also been affected by SSRD. His former owner did not know about it and got the information through me. The daughter is more seriously affected (it looks like she is being tortured). It starts early and ends late in the year. As she is obliged to rub, she becomes stressed and angry...all the more as itching areas have moved from the tail and mane to the barrel. She became even more irritable. I used to apply sulfur mixed with oil: efficient on the mane and tail but not really on the barrel.
But all this was prior to Derfen; I must say I was very skeptical when I saw the ad in "Horse magazine". but it is great. My mares were relieved immediately. I had been working on the problem for 10 years and I was feeling really bad seeing them suffering. Now they have their life again; they have calmed down ; it is a real happiness. When I apply Derfen, they stand still as they know it will relieve the itch. I feel a lot better to know they are ok. I will recommend your product around me.
